Katharina Röhrig is well-known as an organisational design and ‘New Work” thought leader in the technology industry. She brings strong managerial skills in an industry that has been traditionally dominated by men. In 2022 Katharina was voted as a representative onto the management board of the BDI digital committee. Dr. Ignace Van Meenen has a doctorate in law and has extensive experience in the management of national and international companies, from small family-led businesses through to large company groups.
Focus on growth and new markets
The New Work concept – recognising the structural changes occurring in the way companies and employees work in the global and digital age – is critical part of GFOS’s redefined company strategy: "Growth for Future". "We are bridging the gap between continuity and innovation. Growth and the opening of new markets will be decisive factors in the further development of our company, which has been built on the excellence of our products and services, with our software solutions now represented in 30 countries.” said Katharina Röhrig.
GFOS’s planned expansion will initially concentrate on the Benelux countries. The Benelux market offers us the best short-term opportunities because we speak the clients' language and understand their local requirements very well," explains Dr. Ignace Van Meenen, who is originally from Belgium.
“We believe there is great potential in the areas of secure workforce management systems, manufacturing execution systems, hosting, and cloud services. The industry is already facing a growing shortage of specialist talent in nearly all the business sectors we provide to our customers. The IT security sector will also be finetuned as an independent product line due to the increased demand and specialisation in this high priority area. Last but not least, gfos.MES and gfos.Workforce will continue to be main pillars of GFOS's portfolio.
New Work becomes a reality
GFOS's existing business locations in Essen, Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Munich and the subsidiary company in Switzerland will continue unchanged. However, the ‘New Work’ concept will be introduced following the principle of participative and agile management: “We want to respond dynamically and creatively to volatile market conditions while, at the same time, offering our employees the greatest possible flexibility as part of their work-life balance," explains Katharina Röhrig, "We want to move away from sectoral-thinking and replace it with processual thinking to make the best possible use of the synergetic effects between sectors as part of an integrated team. Dynamic, committed, innovative, and solution-oriented – that is GFOS to us."
Katharina Röhrig is the daughter of company founder Burkhard Röhrig, who has recently retired from company management role. In the wake of the company succession, Gunda Cassens-Röhrig is also stepping back from management. Both will continue to support the company in consultative capacity. “I am pleased that the family business succession has been settled and that continuity is guaranteed. We can now be sure that GFOS will continue to be managed successfully. I will continue to take responsibility for the product management for a while longer in order to ensure a smooth transition”, says Gunda Cassens-Röhrig.
